September 17, 2002, Washington,
DC in front of the White House: Hanssen
movie director Lawrence Schiller talks with actor Ron Silver, who plays
Hanssen's FBI boss Mike Fine, about an upcoming scene with actor William
Hurt (Robert Hanssen). Silver and Hurt were in a scene talking together on
a park bench in Lafayette Park. Not allowed to actually film in the park,
the crew filmed on the closed-off Pennsylvania Avenue under the watchful
eyes of the Secret Service as well as curious bystanders, eager to catch a
glimpse of the actors. Two tree trunks brought in with some branches
strategically stuck in them served the illusion of being in the park--but
thanks to Hollywood magic and cropped filming, you'll never know the
difference.
CI Centre thanks Lawrence Schiller for a small keepsake of our work
together--the Hanssen director chair now sits in the CI Centre.
