The Bridges of

Fairfax and Montgomery Counties

Photo hanging on the walls of the CI Centre that

made Bob Hanssen stop and stare:

Footbridge in Little Falls Park, Maryland, where CIA officer

Rick Ames placed a dead drop under the bridge

for his Russian intelligence handlers.

(Photo is a reenactment)

Footbridge in Foxstone Park, Virginia, where FBI officer

Bob Hanssen placed a dead drop under the bridge

for his Russian intelligence handlers.

The moral of the story:

Unlike bridges in Madison County, bridges in the Washington, DC

area are used for more infamous reasons.

If you see someone place something under a footbridge,

this is not normal behavior. Don't pick up the package

but do note the person and the circumstances to the FBI.
