“What a
course! Without question, one of the top three training experiences I have
had in my 17+ years of service. Even if I wanted to or needed to sleep, you
couldn’t—the material was that riveting. Objective achieved—my awareness of
CI has been heightened, my understanding broadened. If there’s any way to
make this a mandatory training experience, that course of action should be
explored. A truly one-of-a-kind course.”
“This is
by far the most important course that I have ever taken as part of my
professional training in 18 years with the organization.”
“The
course is excellent and presented so well. My CI awareness is different now
than before. Certainly an all-time high.”
“I found
this course to be invaluable. This course helped me gain a greater
understanding of the issues surrounding counterintelligence.”
“Hands
down the best course I’ve been through. I feel as if my base of knowledge
has doubled in five days. Hats off to all instructors for their great
presentation and style—unbelievable grasp of the material—could answer any
questions. Certainly the topics and instructors are engaging enough to keep
the audience captivated. The class inspired thoughtful questions and whetted
my appetite for more info.”
“This
course was absolutely fantastic. I learned so much and wish I could have
taken it earlier in my career. It’s a course that you want for more.
Powerful and thought-provoking and one I will remember and encourage others
to attend.”
“The true
value of the class is directly tied to the fact that all the course
professors are recognized experts in their field. All these guys
demonstrated depth in this subject area coupled with enthusiasm making this
one of the best classes I have ever taken.”
“Outstanding! Didn’t know 501 could be improved upon. Your staff and faculty
are the best. Everyone is very helpful and dedicated to ensuring a
successful and rewarding learning experience. My knowledge has been
increased and your staff is providing without doubt one of the most
invaluable services to the Intel Community. Thanks.”
“Excellent
course. This type of class needs to be offered to all in the Intelligence
Community—including policymakers.”
“As recognized experts in their
field, all the instructors succeeded in presenting a vast historical and
cultural context in which to develop offensive CI ops. Beyond the tremendous
content, the instructors conveyed a real sense of enthusiasm for the science
of CI."
“I learned a lot of very useful interesting
information. The instructors were excellent. In addition, it has certainly
changed my opinion and views of counterintelligence. I’ve already
recommended it to others, and will look into taking 502 ASAP.”
“This
course made me aware of past issues that have bearing on things today and
will help me in the future.”
“This and
training will make me more alert to possible CI problems. While at the same
time remaining open-minded. These courses have helped me realize that we
must keep questioning our assumptions and should not jump to conclusions or
take everything at face value. Overall, it has increase my awareness and
vigilance, without making me paranoid.”
“Great
presentation of information—current and historical—not known in full to many
people. Most incredible way the fact that virtually the whole presentation
was at the unclassified level. Extremely practical, the material in which
should be made more available to all Intelligence Community officers.”
“Best
course I’ve taken in ten years.”
“An
outstanding course from professional instructors. I have already recommended
it. Your love of the topic is obvious.”
|
“This
course should be a requirement for all individuals going TDY or PCS. This
was very eye-opening and informative. Great information. Wonderful true-life
stories. This has been the most beneficial course I have taken in a long
time.” |
“This
course should be mandatory not only for ALL employees at our organization
and other organizations, but also ALL Americans! Excellent!”
“I will
recommend this to all my colleagues and require it of my subordinates.
Security and CI is so often undervalued and misunderstood. This course makes
the discipline real and worthy of value to the mission.”
“Should be
a required class for all government employees. New information was learned
throughout class. Use of videos very effective. This was an excellent
overview of counterespionage in the organization and worldwide. One of the
best courses I have taken.”
“Overall,
the class is excellent. At 9 hours per day for 5 days, the class must be
interesting or people will fade quickly. For me, the time went quickly.”
“After
each day, I thought it was the best and nothing could top it—then the next
segment was presented and it was the greatest and so the week went. The days
and hours flew by with additional knowledge filling our brains. Excellent
presentations, excellent films, excellent speakers. I have already recruited
people to take this course. It’s the best the organization can provide.
Thank you.”
“I entered
with very little information and left with the knowledge of how much I need
to learn. The curriculum, instructors and environment of this course were
all exceptional. Thank you.”
“This is
the best training course I have taken. I really appreciate your efforts to
convey the broad context of historical and political developments at the
time. More importantly, I’m ashamed to say that I learned about many cases
and period of our history that I should have known already, especially as an
employee of this organization. For this reason, I think your course should
be a mandatory training requirement. Kudos to you for the state-of-the-art
briefing techniques and teaching aids. The smooth transition from briefing
to slide to video was impressive and enhanced the learning experience. Your
course is truly excellent.”
“I will be
able to leave this course taking learned information that I know will stay
with me and which I will study further. All employees should attend this at
some point in their career. Thank you for the opportunity.”
“A great
course! Overall an excellent chance to learn the history, and more to the
point, the importance of doing good CI. The case studies are wonderful tools
and the lessons learned are still valid today. We do ourselves a disservice
by not exposing young officers to the importance/challenge not to mention
fun of good counterintelligence work. Thanks!”
“This
course was invigorating. I’ll take more.”
“Everyone
in the organization should have this course. All Americans should have parts
of it. Great job!”
“This was,
by far, the best training course that I have had while I’ve been in the
government. The course presenters were first-rate and the course material
was fascinating. This training course should be mandatory for all
Intelligence Community personnel because this subject is so crucial to the
intelligence mission. I look forward to taking the next course that the CI
Centre provides.”
“Excellent, excellent, excellent!!! I think all the instructors did a superb
job. For years, a former boss highly recommended this course. This is
excellent! Kudos to you all. Why isn’t this course a staff/contractor
requirement?”
“This
course was thorough and presented in a logical fashion. I highly recommend
it.”
|
"The
instructors are excellent speakers. They have a thorough knowledge of their
subject and did not hesitate to answer any questions or continue any
discussions generated by the various presentations. Their background and
actual work on cases enhanced their credibility and made all their
presentations extremely interesting and educational." |
“I
now understand decisions of US Government in foreign affairs. I now know there
is more to an espionage case than you read in the newspapers or books. I
understand the value of counterintelligence. This course renewed my interest
in counterintelligence. Last but not least, thank you!”
“Should be
mandatory for ALL employees. Should be taught, in some form, as part of high
school civics! Makes me want to pursue a counterintelligence career.”
“Over the
years that I have been in the government, I have had ample opportunity to
participate in a variety of training courses. That said, this course, and
particularly the instructors, have made this one of the very best. I will
recommend this course! Well done!"
“An
unbelievable undertaking by facilitators done with extreme professionalism.
There are not enough adjectives to express my esteem!”
“I learned
a lot of new material and gained a new awareness of CI. Thank you!”
“Can’t say
enough about the value. This course brought together cases from several time
periods to point out the timeless issues of CI.”
“Without a
doubt, the best course I have taken in my 16 years in the government.
Outstanding mix of historical foundation leading inexorably to today’s
cases. Topics are applicable to my job. I will highly recommend it to
everyone I know.”
“Very
valuable course and a week well-spent. I believe the course by reputation
has greatly improved CI awareness in the Intelligence Community.”
“This is
probably the best course I have attended. The instructors were experts,
energetic, enthusiastic and dedicated to the topic. They conveyed an
incredible amount of information. Just an outstanding course!”
“Most
wonderful course I have been to--very interesting. I’ve discussed it all the
way home with my spouse and he’s signing up for the next running he can get
into.”
“Concise,
well-prepared, engrossing and whets the appetite for more. Thoroughly
enjoyed course. The lecturers obviously know their material and most
importantly enjoy teaching. Can’t wait for part two!”
“A truly
superb course!”
“Four
stars. A great course! Great CI history and lessons learned. I’ll recommend
it highly to everyone I talk to concerning CI. Good speakers and tons of
practical and useful information for CI personnel.”
“Excellent! Should be a requirement for all Intelligence Community
employees.
“I think
it would be impossible to improve on the course. I will strongly recommend.”
“As a
teacher, I am very impressed by how well the instructors imparted their
extensive knowledge (historical and operational) of CI and kept it alive.
It’s a shame that a class like this is not mandatory—or at least the
segments on Angleton and Ames—for everyone. This has been a thorough class
in explaining to me the how’s and why’s of CI. I’m very much a neophyte when
it comes to history and found the historical relevance interesting and
important. And I will start to read more about CI and intel services.”
“The best
course I have ever taken in the government. Should be required of all
employees.”
“This
course is by far the best professional development seminar I have ever
attended. The content, presentation, delivery and administration were all
super. The curriculum is laid out superbly. It is very important to
understand the history of CI and how these events affected the development
of CI policy. The instructors were a delight. Their insight and experience
in the cases were absolutely invaluable. They are very professional,
knowledgeable and entertaining. They have illustrated the high standard of
CI professional for all of us to aspire to.”
“Thanks to
all of the speakers who have opened and reoriented my senses to the world of
CI awareness.”
“I have a
new appreciation for the effective techniques of the Russian intelligence
service. Their operations during WWII left me stunned. CI is something that
the US must always concentrate on. Throughout history, there have been times
when CI was not a major concern. This course has presented me with a
complete picture of why we have to perform effective CI. The speakers in
this course have been excellent. One of the best courses I have taken here
in the government.”
“Absolutely fascinating course! Presentation was excellent. It was a
privilege to listen to the different speakers.”
“By far
the best course I have attended since joining the government. In addition,
this course provided me with the best course professors I have ever had the
pleasure to listen to. Thank you all for a most interesting week.
Outstanding job.”
“This is
one the best courses that I’ve taken since I’ve been here. It is very
relevant to my job and it has raised my CI awareness. I now know that
everything and anything I do has consequences. Teaching by case studies is a
great approach. But you guys went a step forward and brought in the actual
case participants to tell their cases and this was very beneficial to the
course. Thanks!”
“Great
course! Should be mandatory for all employees. Valuable information for
field assignments and persons who travel on frequent trips overseas.”
“The
course has provided me numerous examples of how I should think all things
out in an operational sense. It also makes me realize I need to be much more
focused on my surroundings and that strange incidents are just not chance.”
“This
course was very informative and has provided useful information that can be
used in everyday life. This is a course that I will highly recommend to
other employees.”
“I expect
the course to be extremely valuable during my career. Great presentation and
content gives us an invaluable insight into key CI issues. Great use of
movie clips. Excellent real-world situations.”
“This
class was very helpful in understanding the awareness of the CI threat.”
“This is
an excellent course. It has given me a new appreciation for CI as a
craft—difficult, complex; you can’t be a dumb-cluck to do it. I wouldn’t
change a thing. Keep it up, I’d come again!”
“Definitely a learning experience—increasing awareness of many aspects of
CI. Will be useful here and overseas. Very good examples via videos.”
“Fabulous
course. Should be required for people going TDY or PCS. I will definitely
recommend the course to other auditors and others in the organization.”
“Very good
course. I recommend every employee take it as soon as possible.”
“Course
was overall well paced and incorporated a lot of useful material in two
days. The incorporation of the video segments was a very good way to
demonstrate and make more concrete the CI techniques. The guest speakers
were very effective. Generates a lot of thought and awareness of
counterintelligence.”
|
“Where was
this class when I needed it?! The lessons from the class have direct
relevancy across all functional areas within our organization. I understand
the importance of CI and have become an advocate. Besides a very well
organized history lesson on CI, I found the information well-balanced in the
messages, meaning the counterintelligence awareness is an on-going education
need, but let’s not swing to paranoia but use common sense and analysis
against the problem.”
“I now
have a greater understanding of CI history from its roots to present time
and can see how we evolved, grew and learned from out mistakes.”
“Excellent
course. The staff is committed to this subject and it comes through in all
aspects of the course. May alter my career choice. Thanks.”
“Never
before have I taken a course that I have learned so much. I plan on taking
several of the other courses you offer!”
|
"This was, by far,
the best training course that I have had while I’ve been in the
government. The course presenters were first-rate and the course
material was fascinating. This training course should be mandatory for
all Intelligence Community personnel because this subject is so
crucial to the intelligence mission. I look forward to taking the next
course that these instructors provide." |
“I cannot
say enough good things about this course. The only detriment was going home
every day so exhausted and mentally drained. I was mentally challenged and
am far more prepared for my upcoming PCS. However, although the PCS prep was
the impetus for my taking this course, I must add that I am walking away
with a better understanding of ethical responsibility from a CI perspective,
how easy it is to abuse power in a CI investigation and the consequences
then. Basically, this was not just a CI course, it also touched upon those
issues which we as managers will, if we have not already, have to address.
Finally—great materials, references, audio visuals and no boredom!"
“Overall,
as always, your information and manner of presentation is intellectually
stimulating and provides me, as a manager, with additional perspectives to
use in my day-to-day management of my work and personnel.”
“An
excellent course. The presentations do a good job of making us think, not
just passively hearing a lecture. By thinking scenarios out, the info sinks
in. I would like to have similar classes annually just to help think of CI
issues in different ways and reinforce the importance of CI.”
Re the
instructors: “There is no greater professional enjoyment than being
surrounded by colleagues with a profound grasp of the conceptual framework,
philosophy and examples of the subject they are teaching us. This course was
recommended to me and I plan to recommend it to my colleagues. All materials
were superb complements to lively presentations. Thanks.”
“This
course should be required for all officers to understand the value of CI in
order to protect sources.”
"This was
an excellent course. All of the information presented was extremely valuable
and useful to me as a security professional. The pace was perfect and every
speaker did a great job—I was interested in every lecture and I am happy
with the knowledge I have gained!"
"Hands
down the best course I’ve been through. I feel as if my base of knowledge
has doubled in five days. Hats off to the instructors—great presentation and
style and unbelievable grasp of the material. Could answer any question. The
class inspired thoughtful questions and whetted my appetite for more info."
"Superior
course all the way around. I learned more in the last few days than I have
from my last few training classes. I look forward to taking additional
classes on this topic. This course has tremendous value and I thank your for
giving me the opportunity to attend. I will be telling my friends and
supervisors."
"Excellent
instructions, excellent course material. This course should be mandatory
training! The instructor’s knowledge, personal experience and enthusiasm
made this one of the best courses I’ve taken in 17 years with this
organization."
"This
class should be part of a three-part mandatory training program for everyone
from highest to lowest level in security (the other two courses should be
the “Critical CI Issues” and “Key CI Events”). Senior managers cannot afford
to not make this mandatory for security officers if the office is
going to be effective."
'This was,
by far, the best training course that I have had while I’ve been in the
government. The course presenters were first-rate and the course material
was fascinating. This training course should be mandatory for all
Intelligence Community personnel because this subject is so crucial to the
intelligence mission. I look forward to taking the next course that these
instructors provide.'
"Excellent, excellent, excellent!"
"Attending
this seminar has made me more aware of what to look for/note in people that
could possibly pose a threat/concern. All in all, a very worthwhile seminar.
Since attending this seminar, I feel I will be able to more readily
recognize traits individuals that could possible cause problems and also
know what questions need to be asked to determine the final outcome of the
adjudication of clearances."
"This is
the only program that I encourage all of our employees to take. I use the
information derived from this program every day. Keep up the good work!"
"Very
important class. More people who have newly entered our organization should
have the opportunity to take this class. It is a bit late to teach people 30
years after they begin. I learned a lot of extremely relevant information
and can now apply it to my job. I’ve developed a new appreciation for the
importance of my job. Educate/re-educate people who have been here for a
while, but also educate new people as they enter security or any other area
in the organization!"
"How can I
work here for 19 years and not know this stuff? And why haven’t we educated
the employee population and the rest of America? The course is excellent.
All security staffers should take this course, as well as all employees. I
got an education that I should have had much earlier in my career."
"Most
interesting of all CI courses taken to date. This course provides the most
comprehensive overview of security and counterintelligence practiced within
the Intelligence Community. It is a course recommended for ALL employees,
especially those in the security and counterintelligence fields."
"I thought
the course was a good wake-up call and reminds that sometimes things are how
they seem but every now and then they aren’t. If you do nothing else, ensure
that you at least double check or let someone know what you have seen or
heard that seemed out of the ordinary."
"The most
detailed and complete course of training I have every taken. You definitely
have your training act together."
"Re
Security Issues in Espionage Cases from the Modern Era: What a history
lesson!!! Wow, lots of information to handle but absolutely great! I needed
this one."
"Excellent
use of multimedia. Keep up the great work. Thank you for your many years of
dedication to our nation for our freedoms. You all have my gratitude."
"Very
worthwhile course and a lot of fun. The teachers and classmates made it
enjoyable!"
"Overall,
I enjoyed the class and thought it was interesting and worthwhile."
"The
concept of the course is something every employee should be required to
attend. This type of information helps raise the awareness of CI issues and
espionage activity."
"Great
course, should be mandatory for all those working in the intel community and
as contractors for intel community."
"Open
these courses up to other government agencies, military, etc. to attend."
"The
instructors did an excellent job in presenting the class. Very impressive in
their recollection of names, dates and incidents. Explained all facts of the
course in an understandable manner. Overall very interesting course, very
good presentations and use of time."
"Great
course! I would open this up to other security professionals."
"Re David
Major: Professional and knowledgeable officer that has
assembled a qualified cadre of individuals to provide CI training and
education to members of our profession and Intel Community."
"The
overall evaluation for this course is a “10.” A great historical
presentation of counterintelligence dilemmas to security professionals. I
would like to see this course become a mandatory briefing given to
Ambassadors, DCMs and RDOs before they depart PCS to our embassies. I
enjoyed this course very very much. The lessons learned are found in our
past. I look forward to taking additional CI-related courses."
"Very much
enjoyed this course. I especially liked the incorporation of videos as a
teaching tool."
"Excellent
course. Course materials (books, handouts, charts, etc) were excellent.
Would be willing to attend additional training courses and will recommend
this and other courses to my coworkers."
"Every
intelligence professional needs to be exposed to this subject in depth."
"I learned
much about who, how, when, where and why people become spies."
"The
historical overview is invaluable. We clearly see that security is needed
always and the lack of good security harms our organization."
"The
course has been instrumental in confirming that security is essential. But
also provides crucial reference info that could be used to support or
illustrate the need for security in different circumstances. I would highly
recommend the course to my coworkers. It is only through a strong historical
base in security and CI that we can justify our existence and mission to
protect this organization and government."
"There are
not enough courses to increase awareness—everyone needs to take these
courses."
"The
consequences of industrial espionage hit home and opened my eyes to
potential groups/activities which may be questionable re security."
"This
course should be made available to all security personnel, not only the
professionals. Secretaries and security assistants who deal with a lot of
these same issues can benefit from this information."
"All
aspects of this course were very useful for me!"
"I have
learned new things from the past. Security is a serious profession that
requires unlimited dedication. The reality is that our profession has
limitations that are beyond our control. However, if we concentrate on what
we can control through lessons learned, we can become a stronger and a more
intelligent profession."
"Excellent
course, good information. Would recommend that more security awareness
courses such as this be available to all employees, not just security
professionals."
"This
course is excellent. I think it’s an eye-opener because we are responsible
for protecting our organization. We need to be able to recognize “red flags”
that individuals display. Maybe training and education will help everyone
become more aware of odd/strange behavior. Great use of new technology!"
"Great
course. I’ll definitely recommend this course to my colleagues."
"One of
the best classes I have had the pleasure to attend. I would recommend that
all security officers take this class. Especially early in their career
because it will provide great reference info for use in almost every job our
people are engaged."
"Wonderful, educational course. This week has helped me to gain a great
understanding of CI and the importance of being aware and informed!!!"
"Excellent
presentation as usual."
|
“An
unbelievable undertaking by facilitators done with extreme professionalism.
There are not enough adjectives to express my esteem!” |
"I think
everyone in our organization should take this course."
"Very well
organized and presented. I especially enjoyed how the CI events were
interwoven with historical events. It was fascinating to learn the real
story behind the story."
"This is
an excellent course. It is the best training I’ve had since I started work
in the government over ten years ago! I wish this had been part of my
initial training and I think it is especially valuable for newer employees.
This is a course that everyone in the government, no matter where they work,
should take."
"I’ll tell
people why they should come and think all security officers should know and
understand this information. There are tremendous dilemmas and decisions in
this business—all requiring our understanding and sensible advocacy. We’ll
all be better advocates and I am much more educated on the items that link
our business area and our history, and serve the security profession much
better. I’ll be back for the other courses as well."
"To date
in my career, this is the best training course I have taken. The level of
detail and material presented made this course not only informative, but
also extremely interesting and easy to sit through. My interest in the CI
field has been piqued as the information is directly related to my field. I
thoroughly enjoyed the course and the course instructors ability to present
the material was just first-rate. An overall 10."
"Re
Physical Security Lessons from the US Embassy in Moscow segment: “New info I
had not known. It’s interesting that the same issues and problems reoccur
throughout our history of espionage. It also validates why security requires
reporting foreign national contacts and travel."
"Excellent, well-produced and managed course. Love it and I’ll recommend it
to others."
|
“A REAL eye-opener. I haven’t been exposed to CI issues since I was hired.
This course reemphasized the importance and stressed the reality of the
situation. Seeing the topic of recruitment through the eyes of a former KGB
officer makes the recruitment process real and helps stress how real
it is.”
“Superb course! I will highly recommend it to my colleagues.”
“I liked the course and it better sensitized me to vulnerabilities of
analytical professionals to CI. I used to think that we were less attractive
than other employees re targeting. Now I will consider us all about the
same.”
“Excellent course—highlighted many CI issues that I was not aware of."
“Excellent course overall. Word of mouth will bring many to this. Would love
more info to be available at work on the availability of courses. Thank
you!”
“This is an overall excellent course—the presentations are all
well-informed, knowledgeable and good presentations. Good use of video and
PowerPoint. CI Centre courses are by far the best our organization has to
offer us.”
Re Understanding the Recruitment Process: “The best training segment I’ve
ever been exposed to.”
“Well worth the time. When I get five days, I plan to take the longer
course.”
“A vital course for the intelligence professional, especially for the
analyst—this is a real eye-opener in addressing the dual threat of foreign
CI efforts and internal regulations.”
“One of the best and most useful courses in my years in the government. I am
looking forward to taking another course in this series.”
“I think all analysts should attend this course to get an understanding of
how they may be targeted.”
“This course should be mandatory when we are hired. I rate this course
highly because it makes participants aware of real world risks of working
for the Intelligence Community and therefore becoming a target.
“All segments very illuminating. Likes the personal stories.”
“This course gave us the overall awareness we need to deal with security
issues.”
Re Elicitation segment: “Excellent in terms of informing us about how to be
aware of possible CI flags and what we need—practical information about how
to avoid potentially dangerous situations.”
“This has been an excellent course. Very applicable in increasing awareness
and showing us how to avoid future problems. I think every analyst needs to
know this information, especially those who are new to the community. It is
a different way to look at life, and it is extremely important to recognize
how dangerous this type of thing could be.”
“The course was excellent.”
Re Elicitation segment: “Possibly the most important issue to cover for
analysts, as we would likely face elicitation on overseas trips.”
“Excellent course. I intend to recommend this course to others.”
“Clearly an excellent course. Every new employee should have this
course—wish I had it years ago.”
“This is the most interesting and pertinent class I have yet had. I feel it
should be mandatory for anyone with access to classified information. I
especially like the CI perspective of the analyst as a target."
“This
course gave me much more than I expected. I found the historical connections
were extremely valuable and informative.”
“Great
course. The way the information is presented is very thought-provoking. A
greater awareness of the complexities of the cases is helpful/enlightening.
I really appreciate the course instructors’ willingness to answer
questions."
“Excellent
course filled with much useful info. All the speakers were well-prepared and
their presentations were well-done. Good materials, good films. I will
strongly encourage my colleagues to take this course. Keep up the good
work!” “Cheap
insurance. Will recommend it.”
“Without
doubt, this is one of the best prepared and best presented courses that I
have attended during my 12 years with this organization.”
“Overall,
I thought this class was fantastic. The instructors were all experts, and
this fact makes this class successful. The use of videos, real world case
studies, and guided discussions was an excellent format to present this
material.”
“I thought
the course was terrific. It has certainly shown me much I didn’t even
suspect existed. I’ll be very alert henceforth, thanks to this course.”
“This
course should be a requirement for all individuals going TDY or PCS. This
was very eye-opening and informative. Great information. Wonderful true-life
stories. This has been the most beneficial course I have taken in a long
time.”
“Would
definitely go back to my office and brag about this course.”
“Outstanding information with effective pace and variety in
media/presenters. The personal accounts shared by speakers and the
videotapes helped underscore the vulnerabilities and need for vigilance.
“Training
of this sort should be MANDATORY for all employees traveling PCS or TDY
overseas. Congratulations for the hard work and effort put into this course.
I have learned an extremely valuable amount of information. It was well
worth my time to take this course. Will look forward to attending 502!”
|
"Hands
down the best course I’ve been through. I feel as if my base of knowledge
has doubled in five days. Hats off to all instructors for their great
presentation and style—unbelievable grasp of the material—could answer any
questions. Certainly the topics and instructors are engaging enough to keep
the audience captivated. The class inspired thoughtful questions and whetted
my appetite for more info." |
“Should be
required for all employees who are traveling TDY/PCS overseas.”
“Extremely
worthwhile and important course for all employees to attend. It raises
security awareness of everyone, especially those employees who don’t do this
type of work. We are very fortunate to have David Major on contract. David
is excellent at providing the information and
keeping everyone’s attention. They are providing a great service to our
organization.”
“Both the
content and presentation was outstanding. This course presents a challenge
to those who attend. How do we fully utilize the information provided.”
“Excellent
course. Very knowledgeable and engaging instructors. Keep up the good
work!!”
“Outstanding course—should be required for all involved in ops.”
“The best
seminar I have attended in a long time. Keep up the good work! Continue to
provide books.”
“The use
of high-tech presentation method stimulated interest. It was balanced with
discussion and documentation. I was kept thinking all through the Penkovsky
case.”
“This
course is excellent; every employee should be able to take it."
“Excellent
course. This stuff needs to get out to EVERYBODY who holds a clearance.
Education and awareness is the answer in my opinion.”
“Excellent
course, as was the first one. Effective use of videos, lectures, course
materials to emphasize the need of offensive CI. Always learn something new
in these courses about very interesting cases. Will certainly recommend this
course to others.”
“Great
course worth taking. Overall it was well-done and clearly showed
benefits/dangers of offensive counterintelligence.”
“The
course was educational and entertaining. I thought the use of videos to
introduce subjects or provide background was an excellent approach. It kept
me engaged and the switch from medium to medium was an effective way to kept
this student focused.”
“A very
good course. The historic knowledge alone is excellent and is needed for us to be
effective in counterintelligence. RACE to get this exposure elsewhere.”
“I’m very
pleased to have had the opportunity to participate in this course and I look
forward to course #503. I found the presenters uniformly knowledgeable,
well-prepared and entertaining.”
“Wonderful
course. I will continue to highly recommend both 501 and 502.”
“Excellent
info and delivery. Hands-on examples and “live” briefers with in-depth
operational knowledge are the cornerstone of the course.”
“Very
professional course dealing with relevant CI issues. Most of the instruction
is highly beneficial to the intelligence professional. The course presented
subjects which were previously unknown and which we will probably encounter
at some point in the future.”
“Wonderful
course and really opened up my mind to CI issues. When are you going to give
a 503 (follow-on) course?”
"All
speakers were well spoken, dynamic and appeared to not only speak from the
mind but more importantly, from the heart! A wonderful course that I will
recommend to other security professionals."
"I believe
you provide a great service to our organization and any others you speak to
within the Intelligence Community. It’s an ultimate in awareness training.
The enthusiasm with which all of the instructors and speakers approach their
topics add so much."
"Excellent, dynamic instructors. Kept pace/course moving without losing
one’s attention. Professional in every sense. Would highly recommend to
others, plus, enjoy attending other courses."
"This was
a great course. I see I need to study more. I need to be better prepared for
the future! I love my job!! Every employee should attend this course. It’s a
wake-up call."
Re instructors: “Excellent. All
the accolades that I heard prior to the class are very true. Makes a big
difference when you have experts who were involved deeply in the subjects
taught in this course.”

“Thanks to
all of the speakers who have opened and reoriented my senses to the world of
CI awareness.” |
“This
course really highlights the complexities and intricacies of espionage--“all
is not as it seems.” The tie-in with the current events of China is timely
and truly valuable. Ironic that so many of the same issues pertaining to Amerasia, Penkovsky, etc. are still true!”
“I really
enjoyed the class. Believe a class for spouses would be really worthwhile,
especially prior to PCS assignments.”
“Instructors’ passion for subject matter adds greatly to the course.
Provides wonderful service to the Community by maintaining, educating CI
awareness.”
“I think
this course and its predecessor should be mandatory for all
counterintelligence and security careerists. I think your entire staff is
excellent! Learned a lot and enjoyed the history and thought-provoking
subjects. Thanks for the books.”
“Most
definitely I will recommend this course to others!”
“This
course covers such pertinent information that it should be a part of the
initial training for new employees. This course should be a prerequisite to
any foreign travel.”
“I should
have had this course prior to my first TDY.”
“What a unique opportunity to hear
first-hand from a former senior intelligence officers and agents who had
amazing stories to tell. It is precisely speakers like that that give
tremendous insights into the world of CI, agents, double agents, etc. I have
several possible foreign trips coming up and this course has opened my eyes
to the realities of the methods utilized by foreign services to neutralize
our efforts here and overseas. I will recommend this course to my office’s
senior management.”
“Should be required course for all
personnel.”
“I have learned to always be aware and
never underestimate the host country’s service.”
“I liked the mix of presentation
materials—PowerPoint, videos, speakers. The class served as a good reminder
of vulnerabilities and does a good job of showing you how a CI service looks
at Americans. I look forward to taking other courses.”
“Although I’ve been with the government for over 15 years, I never really
found ‘espionage’ or ‘counterespionage’ interesting. Now, thanks to this
course, I am truly fascinated and, though this may sound strange, it was
just now really dawning on me that this is my business!! I found the
discussion of elicitation most interesting and most useful.”
“Some of the material was a little scary, but I’m very glad I know because I
think it will really help me to not make mistakes. I feel like I can go into
my job duties armed with a lot of valuable skills. This class should be
mandatory! I think for many of us in analysis, the trouble we could get into
would be a result of not being aware of these issues.”
“My awareness has been greatly enhanced. The presenters were very thorough
and seemed to take a genuine interest in answering the student’s questions.
The videos were also interesting to understand how one could be exploited as
a target. Very good course that all employees should be required to take.
“I have
never rated a course this highly before. I can think of nothing to improve
or change except to add more material. Thank you.”
“As a
fairly new employee, I learned many valuable lessons over the past two days.
The presentations were very professional and exceptionally interesting.”
"The
instructors are excellent speakers. They have a thorough knowledge of their
subject and did not hesitate to answer any questions or continue any
discussions generated by the various presentations. Their background and
actual work on cases enhanced their credibility and made all their
presentations extremely interesting and educational."
"Re
books/handouts: Good source of information to continue to enhance knowledge
and awareness of subject."
